A VISION FOR DAVENPORT
Dear NDP Members,
My name is Francisco Pegado, and I am excited to announce that I am running to be your next NDP candidate and Member of Parliament for Davenport.
Since arriving in Canada, Davenport has been my home. I am deeply passionate about giving back to this community, and I believe it’s time for change. Our neighbourhood deserves better—better leadership, better representation, and a government that truly listens to the needs of its people.
Over the years, I’ve worked to amplify the voices of marginalized groups, fought for environmental justice, and advocated for policies that make life better for everyone. I believe in action—concrete, positive change that moves us closer to a society where diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just ideals, but realities.
Born in Angola and coming to Canada as a refugee, I’ve always understood the value of community. Since arriving here, I’ve worked to strengthen local ties and create a platform for diverse voices. My involvement with various organizations reflects my commitment to fostering community spirit and engagement in Davenport.
I bring a progressive approach to equality—one that brings everyone to the table. I speak English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and I will ensure that the voices of all our residents, especially those most vulnerable, are heard. My background in journalism has kept me closely connected to the people, and I will continue to amplify the concerns and ideas of our community.
Davenport deserves real, actionable solutions to the challenges we face. Together, we can build a community where diversity thrives, environmental leadership leads the way, and everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
I am asking for your support during the upcoming nomination campaign to become the next Federal NDP candidate for Davenport. Together, we can make history.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
On August 25, 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting the Back to School Free Community Event at the Magellan Centre grounds and Toronto Fire Station 345. With over 70 children and parents in attendance, the event was a wonderful success, bringing our community together to emphasize the importance of fire safety, school readiness, and community involvement.
A Special Reunion:
It was especially meaningful to welcome back some of the same children and families who attended a similar event 10 years ago. The reunion added an extra layer of joy and connection to the day.
